Import and Export Genies for Integration with Other Software
Although FOUNDATION for Windows offers exceptional accounting and
job costing functionality, we understand that your construction
business may rely on additional hardware and software products related
to your specific industry needs - tools such as estimating, time
recording, project management and hand-held devices such as Palm
Pilots and Pocket PCs. That is why FOUNDATION provides built-in
integration capabilities with third-party systems, allowing you
to avoid duplicate entries and streamline processes. See some of

The ImportGenies and ExportGenies provided with the system make
transferring the data simple and flexible. Using the same capsule
technology of other Genies,
they allow you to indicate the order in which you want data placed,
what delimiters you wish to use (e.g., quotation marks, commas,
etc.) and where the data is/should be stored.
Importing integration options include:
- General maintenance and history (job, payroll and general ledger)
data from other accounting systems, allowing you to import much
of the data needed to go live (See ConversionQuick for more information)
- Job estimates from third-party estimating, pricing and project
management systems
- Payroll timecards from third-party time recording software or
handheld devices such as Palm Pilots, Pocket PCs, etc., meaning
time can be entered anywhere in the field
- Purchase orders/subcontracts from third-party purchasing systems
- Receivable invoices through third-party invoicing systems
- Lists of bids and/or bid items from State departments of transportation*
- Equipment meter/mileage readings from third-party equipment
tracking systems*
ExportGenies include the Direct Deposit ExportGenie for exporting
direct deposits to bank software.
All built-in and custom reports throughout the system may be automatically
exported to PDF, Microsoft Excel and/or Microsoft Word. FOUNDATION's
Microsoft SQL database also offers the ability to export other data
into other ODBC-compliant software such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft
Access or Lotus 1-2-3.

We like to
track quantities and estimated vs. actual costs of our self-performed
work. FOUNDATION for Window's flexibility in job cost reporting
and ability to easily tie into outside software, such as Excel,
were deciding factors in making the change.
