This online course
will cover concepts and best practices for financial and job cost analysis for contractors. Discussion will focus on how accounting and job costing systems can help make your business more efficient and profitable. We’ll discuss the kinds of reports to use, how to structure business processes and tips for analyzing business data.
The above theories will be put into practice by viewing the General Ledger and Job Costing Modules of FOUNDATION. Topics include:
- Comparing estimating and costing code structures
- Estimating by cost code
- Dealing with personnel issues in estimating vs. costing
- Tips for easier budget setup
- Importing job budgets
- Purposes and processes of tracking change orders
- Tips for handling change orders in the system
- Billing by cost code
- Over/under billing on line items as a function of costing
- Forecasting
- Production reporting
- Determining average hourly rates
- Cash requirements analysis
- Using various percentage of completion methods
We’ll take a look at advanced reporting techniques that will help you design fully customized reports using FOUNDATION and Microsoft Excel.
You Will Learn
In this workshop, you’ll become familiar with the basic structure of FOUNDATION’s database and the Excel Query tool, which allows you to place FOUNDATION data in Excel spreadsheets automatically and use Excel’s powerful formatting and data analysis tools with it.
