In the heart of downtown Cleveland, 444 registered attendees, 20 vendor participants and more than 150 of our staff members gathered for the 2017 Foundation Software User Conference.
“We felt that the beautiful, brand-new Huntington Convention Center in downtown Cleveland was exactly the upgrade that we were searching for, and the classrooms seemed to be a success as well,” says President Mike Ode. “The user conference is always a great way for our clients and staff to build and strengthen relationships with one another.”
In Mike’s welcome to attendees he discussed his hopes for the annual event — both what we would gain from time spent with our clients and what our clients would gain from us. “We want you to walk away feeling more comfortable reaching out to us and speaking with us candidly. That will transform the next phone call you have with us.”
See what our attendees were saying:
What attracted me to this event? I’m hoping to learn some timesaving tips and learn about best practices for job cost overhead allocation.”
– Meg Radtke
I have been using foundation software for about a year and a half! Looking forward to learning more.”
– Lisa Schroering
What attracted me to the event? I’m a fairly new user and look forward to discovering the capabilities.”

Learning and Growing
Every event brings an opportunity for us to get better. Because of this, we added new features at this year’s conference based on past feedback. Countless attendees stopped by our new Support Bullpen for quality face time with our expert staff and to get their questions answered immediately. Positive feedback on our bullpen flowed throughout the conference — from both attendees and staff.
Additionally, this year’s mobile event app replaced heavy printout binders and drove a great deal of networking before, during and after the event. You’ve already been reading some of what our attendees were saying on the app’s bulletin board:
The bullpen is an awesome addition!”
– Takeyla Tyson
Thank you Foundation and Cleveland for an amazing conference! The staff is AMAZING!”
– Noelle Conklin
Over the 42 sessions, attendees gained knowledge and skills on topics as diverse as job costing, AIAs and unit price billing, system security, vacation accruals, and DataGenies. We also gathered for candid roundtables with our company’s leadership and a special panel to discuss our latest client projects.
Connecting and Having Fun
Foundation training coordinator Bronwyn Betts shared her favorite parts of the week. First, she says, is coming face-to-face with people she’s only spoken to on the phone. The other, “When clients’ faces light up when I share golden nuggets or tricks.”
The user conference brings clients from all over the country and every type of trade, but they have one thing in common — the desire to learn more. “I enjoy seeing the reactions on an attendee’s face when they have an ‘aha’ moment,” says senior consultant Scott Kern. “Whether they’ve been on the system for three months or 15 years, there’s always something new to learn.”
But if it was all educational, it wasn’t necessarily all business. Attendees experienced a taste of Cleveland life as they attended ball games, toured The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, ate at the locally famous Hofbräuhaus, and explored the many other culinary venues and craft breweries downtown.
This city is alive!”
– Mike Stansbury
Had a great time at the Indians game tonight!!”
– Roxanne Bair
The city was beautiful tonight.”
– Lisa Wright
As one event ends, planning for the next begins, and we’re excited to share that we’ll again be hosting the user conference in Cleveland in October 2018.
“Clients have given plenty of feedback on potential improvements, and we’re already hard at work implementing them for next year,” says Foundation event planner Deanna Nwosu. “It’s only been a few days since the conference ended, yet I’m already anticipating seeing our clients again and making the 2018 user conference even bigger and better!”
Foundation crew…ready for tomorrow? You are a great team.”
